What's the fuel air ratio for a 747?
Using a variety of info, and fuel air mixes for jet engines, we worked out some numbers; for a 747 on a flight from DC to Frisco. All of the numbers are off the net, take it for what it's worth. Using a 80% capacity load and a nominal headwind, the 747 might use 17,000 gallons of fuel on that flight. If the jet fuel weighs 7 pounds to a gallon that's 119,000 pounds of fuel, and, if by weight, the ratio is 62 to one, the 747 would burn 7,437,500 lbs. of air, on that flight. (6 hours). There is a lot of room for error here (like a Democrat election count) but you can do your own math. On many cold mornings I have counted as many as 16 vapor trails, apparent at one time. This little exercise in math indicates that Greta may need to take a sailboat to travel to her next ‘save the world conference’. Then throw in all the other unnecessary travel, golf tournaments, football games, weddings, funerals and vacations, we might run out of air!
Have a nice day!
