Myths, Repeated Myths and Hysteria

Can you imagine having to walk into a crowded room of five year olds, with the duty to convince them there is no Santa Claus. Talk about hysteria and tears, this is it. The job of convincing the general public that health care workers caring for COVID-19 victims were not dying like flies is going to be just as difficult. The little known, and even less publicized, fact is the entire health care community of 21 million people in the U.S. had only 858 deaths to December 1, 2020. That is a DPM (death per million) of 41. The death rate among the general public, during this same period, was 953. The fact is a little old lady shopping for groceries is far more exposed to COVID-19 than a nurse reporting for work. The myth that health care people were entitled to the ‘hogs’ share of the first available COVID-19 vaccine, is the result of the relentless campaign by the TV news media to exploit the chaos that occurred in New York in March and April. The chaos in New York was the victims, not the med people. Many of the victims were being ‘flown’ in from Europe, sick and ready to die when they got here. Many more were ‘elderly’ In nursing homes, where most of the infections were brought in by the ‘caretakers’, and very few of the victims of nursing homes were even offered hospital care. Yeah, killing the myth is a dirty job, but someone has to do it!
