Little Abner and Lust!
If you remember the comic strip, the main character, Abner was a hillbilly dolt, quite handsome in a rough way, and the object of two beautiful voluptuous young ladies, the blonde, Daisy Mae, and the gutter snipe, Moonbeam McSwine. Abner kept himself close to home when Daisy Mae was close by, but given the opportunity, he would sneak a peek at Moonbeam, who, while being a bit unwashed, had every ounce of feminine ‘pulchritude’ that Al Capp, the creator, could build in. I don't know how the divided romance ended, but it probably compares with real life events. For instance, take JFK, who had a very talented, shapely wife, and if not really beautiful, she was very attractive. But even Jack was tempted by MM, and that is understandable, MM could have caused the Pope to jump the fence. She never hit Jack up for ‘hush money’ (that I know of), and she didn't need to ‘hitch-hike’ a claim to fame. Then along comes Willy, who had a so-so looking companion, but his ‘eye’ wandered quite often, and it was rumored that he even enlisted the state police in Arkansas to ‘round’ em up, and I never heard if they had ‘cuffs and leg irons’ when delivered, or if they were just ‘good sports’. Then along came Donald, who had a succession of truly beautiful wives, a couple of whom bore him children. If the rumor mill is correct, Donald ‘got out of the barn’ a few times. Donald's escapades remind me of Little Abner, when Daisy Mae wasn't looking, he had to sneak out for a fling with Moonbeam McSwine. As for the rewards of lust, a famous psychiatrist said of sex “the position is ridiculous, the pleasure is momentary, , and the price is damnable”!
Have a nice day!
