What Works? What Doesn’t Work?
While all the controversy is about vaccines, or lack of, or testing, too much, or too little, and therapy
from ventilators to plasma to hydroxychloroquine, the one number that will tell the tale when the
coronavirus is history, is death per million, currently included in Worldometers statistics. Just
looking at that number, deaths per million of total population, gives a good take on what works,
and what doesn’t work. For the sake of brevity, I will show 10 industrialized nations, 5 of which
imposed ‘drastic’ measures in 5 catergories; limited travel, strict quarantines, social distancing,
face masks, and sanitizing public facilities, and 5 of the same category with little or ‘spotty’
regulation of the virus.
The 5 with strict measures are;
China Death Per Million (or DPM) 3
Taiwan DPM 0.3
Australia DPM 21
New Zealand DPM 4
Japan DPM 9
The five with ‘late’, ‘spotty’, ‘voluntary’ or no control at all are;
The US DPM 548
The United Kingdom DPM 610
Sweden DPM 575
Italy DPM 586
Belgium DPM 826
Counting the dead might not be the best ‘scientific’ reporting standard, but it sure tells you what
works, and what does not work.
