‘1939’, a replay!

Not to bore you to tears, but what I am seeing in the Russian invasion of the Ukraine is a replay of 1939 and the aggressions of Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany! The response from the Ukraine’s immediate neighbors, all of Europe, in effect, the ones with the most to lose in the long run, is far worse than pathetic. It makes you wonder if the Chief of Police of Uvalde is in command of the NATO defense effort! While it's comforting to hear, as we are hearing, the US has no significant interest in this ‘local civil war’, that philosophy is bullshit. Like Hitler, we are dealing with a madman in Russia, Vladimir Putin. The parallels are unlimited, Hitler was driven by his conviction Germany had been screwed in the 1919 World War 1 peace treaties. Putin is driven by the hate for the West due to the dissolution of the USSR. And the US involvement? maybe we shouldn't be involved at all, or maybe we should offer Ukraine some blankets, a.k.a. Obama's assistance program. Or, if we were serious about helping Ukraine, how about 3 or 4 squadrons of warthogs, and maybe a few flights of F-16’s? If corruption in Ukraine is a real big issue, how about demanding a specific group of individuals be arrested and detained in Brussels for trial. But that might trigger a demand that a specific group of individuals in the US be rounded up and held for trial. In the meanwhile the U.S. will offer ‘defensive’ only weapons, and that is not the way you stop an aggressor, or a win a war!
